Early Life and Education
Priyadarshan completed his early education at Government Model Boys Higher Secondary School in Thiruvananthapuram. He later pursued a Master of Arts in Philosophy from University College, Thiruvananthapuram. His father, Poojappura Soman Nair, was a college librarian and a dramatist, which significantly influenced Priyadarshan's interest in literature and theater. During his college years, he began writing short plays and skits for All India Radio, laying the foundation for his future in filmmaking.
Career Milestones
Priyadarshan made his directorial debut in Malayalam cinema with "Poochakkoru Mookkuthi" in 1984, a film that garnered critical acclaim and commercial success. Throughout the 1980s and 1990s, he delivered several notable Malayalam films, including "Thalavattam" (1986), "Chithram" (1988), "Kilukkam" (1991), and "Thenmavin Kombath" (1994).
